About Australia and Fiji Travels

Australia was not the typical study abroad or vacation... it was much more fun!  We started in Brisbane and worked our way north to warmer weather in Cairns passing through places like Stradbroke Island, Heron Island, Orpheus Island, Townsville, Gladstone, Tin Can Bay, Rockhampton, etc.  We traveled by car, boat, ferry, van, and bus, feeling a little ore like a cast of Road Rules every day.  We traveled for about a month, waking up and sleeping at strange hours of the day to accomodate our traveling. Snorkeling almost every day, sometimes more especially on the islands, we still found time for hiking, swimming, kayaking, tanning, and diving.  Plus, we got upperlevel Tropical Marine Ecology lecture/lab credit!

Fiji was a really random venture on Phil and I's part.  We went without a plan... got off the plane then looked at eachother like "Now what?!?"  But this random lady Margaret offered to keep our suitcases for the week, so we trusted her, exchanged some money, and took off with our backpacks on.  We went from hostel to beachouse on a few diff islands. We hiked to little villages, drank lots of Kava (natural Fijian narcotic) and had a really adventurous trip : )
